We are located 90 miles north of the World Famous San Diego Zoo and 70 miles east of the Los Angeles Zoo, Mr. Joe’s Farm is a collection of over 100 animals including one Bactrian (two humped) camel, two emus, six miniature horses, 15 alpacas and two miniature donkeys. In contrast to both above mentioned zoos, we do not charge admission and we allow people to touch the camel and the other animals.
In addition to providing free entertainment for families, church and school groups, clubs and organizations, we also use our facility as a place to help troubled youth. We have various young people, some from low income families, who also help us and we are able to have a positive influence in their lives. We are currently working with an eight year old boy whose father died three years ago. In a short period of time, we have seen some real positive progress in this boy’s life. He smiles more and is starting to open up to us. Our service to youth of all ages comes at absolutely no cost to the parents.
So far, 2007 has been a very busy year for us. We have had approximately 800 visitors to the farm. Next year we are expecting that number to triple. Here is a list of some of the different groups who have come: moms & toddlers, homeschoolers, adult daycares, churches, schools and senior citizens.
There is so much we want to do, but we need your help. If you can assist these vital services with a donation of any size, it would help us carry on this work which we believe greatly benefits our community. If you would like to see our operation first hand, or need more information, feel free to call us (Joe or Stacey) at 951/657-8408.
